Happy Purim!

Celebrating Purim during Women’s History Month is the perfect combination to honor Queen Esther, and all the women, who use their voices, power, and leadership to shape history. Read more about the Purim story through a feminist lens on NCJW’s blog!

Last week the Minnesota Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee officially passed the Minnesota Equal Rights Amendment (SF 473) out of committee.

This is a historic step toward ensuring that gender equality, reproductive freedom, and protection against discrimination are not just goals, but constitutional mandates in our state. NCJW|MN is proud to continue to advocate for the fundamental rights that allow every Minnesotan to live with dignity.

The Status:
The bill passed the committee on a 6-4 vote. It now must pass out of the Senate Rules Committee before it can head to the Senate floor for a final vote. Our goal is clear: get through the Legislature and on the ballot for November 2026 so that you can have the final say!

We need YOU to take the next step

1. Contact the Senate Rules Committee

The bill is headed here next. If your Senator is on the Rules Committee, your voice is especially critical! Even if they aren’t on the committee, ask your local Senator to urge the Rules Chair to move the bill forward at once.

Sample message:

I am a constituent and a member of NCJW Minnesota. I urge you to support SF 437 to put the Equal Rights Amendment on the 2026 ballot. Minnesotans deserve the right to vote on permanent constitutional protections for our fundamental freedoms.”

2. Share the news!

Most people don’t know that the ERA is not a part of our State Constitution. Forward this email to three friends, or share our latest post on social media to help inform your networks. Make a plan to attend the ERA Rally on March 12th with them today!

Join NCJW Minnesota for an afternoon of film, reflection and collective action.

Come watch “Never Rarely Sometimes Always“, a powerful film that illuminates the challenges and struggles connected with abortion access while celebrating friendship and sisterhood.

After the film, we’ll make posters for the Reproductive Lobby Day on March 23rd, at the Capitol, and write postcards that support abortion providers.
This is a chance to connect and build community with others who deeply care about reproductive justice as we prepare to stand together at the State Capitol.
Come as you are, bring a friend, and be a part of the action. Snacks provided!

Save the date for our spring event!

They say democracy is noun, but at NCJW|MN we know it’s actually a verb. It’s something we do, something we build, and something we protect together.

We are thrilled to invite you to our upcoming Spring Breakfast Fundraiser: Democracy is a verb – when women lead, communities thrive.

When women lead, the results aren’t just seen in the boardroom or ballot boxes, they are felt in the well-being of our families, the strength in our schools, and the vibrancy of our neighborhoods. Come for breakfast, be in community, and discover how our collective action creates lasting change and helps our community reach its full potential.

Save the date for a morning of purpose, passion, and great coffee.
