February 9th, 2026: Updates from NCJW

|
Our deepest thanks to all who came out for our Legislative Update, especially for Senator Westlin and Representative Kraft who took the time to be in community with us to discuss the upcoming legislative session. We are grateful to have had them for an evening of great discussion and thought provoking questions. |

With the surge of federal agents in our community, and the accompanying chaos, many of us are focused on looking after our neighbors and keeping one another safe. As a consequence, and given our intent to respond thoughtfully to the rapidly shifting reproductive justice and legislative landscape, we have decided to postpone this training to later in the spring. This will allow us to adjust the content to reflect upcoming reproductive advocacy efforts and policy changes, and to gather when we can fully show up for one another in meaningful ways.
We are deeply grateful for your commitment to sharing your time and wisdom. We will regroup, find other date options, and reach back out to you in the hopes your calendars will, once again, make it possible for you to join us.

Join NCJW Minnesota for an afternoon of film, reflection and collective action.
Come join us to watch Never Rarely Sometimes Always, a powerful film that illuminates the realities of abortion access, then roll up our sleeves to make posters for Reproductive Lobby Day at the Capitol. This is a chance to connect with others who care deeply about reproductive justice, and build community while preparing to show up together. Come as you are, and be part of the action. Snacks will be provided.

Save the Date for Repro Shabbat!
It’s almost time for Repro Shabbat, taking place February 13-14 when we read Parshat Mishpatim. Since it’s launch in 2021, Repro Shabbat has grown from 400 participating communities to nearly 2,500 celebrations nationwide, lifting up the critical importance of reproductive freedom and Judaism’s teachings on reproductive health, rights, and justice.
There are so many ways to take part in Repro Shabbat. You might write postcards to Secretary RFK Jr. and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services urging them to protect access to medication abortions, host your own OneTable x Repro Shabbat dinner (for hosts ages 25-39), or work with your local synagogue to incorporate Repro Shabbat into their Shabbat programming. No event is too big or too small.
We’d love to help you make the most of this year‘s Repro Shabbat! Contact Terri at terri@ncjwmn.org to plan a meaningful and impactful celebration.

MN – St Paul – Welcome Back Legislators Cancelled
Welcome Back Day, planned for February 17, has been canceled. While we had intended to gather for a solemn and respectful morning of action, our allies at the Capitol have asked for space to memorialize Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman together. They deeply value our commitment to showing up for those impacted by gun violence and look forward to working with us this session, but have requested this day to grieve and find their footing. Though it is not typical for us to miss the first day of session, these are not typical circumstance, her colleagues and friends are now gun-violence survivors themselves, and we honor their request.
Healers Demand Action Rally on Friday, February 13, in the Capitol Rotunda at 9:45 am. Join the coalition of mental and behavioral health practitioners and other healers to share stories, promote healing and demand action from our elected officials. We see the trauma gun violence inflicts on the individual, the family, and our greater communities. We need to address isolation, radicalization, and interpersonal violence while reducing access to highly lethal means. After our rally, we will deliver a letter, signed by healing professionals from around the state, to our elected officials.
