NCJW|MN ways to continue Democracy as a Verb

NCJW Minnesota Logo

Like so many of you, we are deeply concerned about the erosion of democratic values. As Jews, history has taught us exactly what is at stake when democracy begins to break down. But we are not powerless. True collective strength begins when we share our stories, our hopes, and our fears.

Now is the time to act. To figure out how we can best show up for democratic institutions, we recently held Listening Sessions to explore what “taking action” looks like to each of us, and what holds us back. The takeaway? There are no “big” or “small” actions. There is only the choice to show up.

Moving forward, NCJW|MN will be sharing concrete opportunities to get involved, celebrating our community’s progress, hosting educational webinars and issuing critical calls against authoritarian threats. We are fully committed to our mission to safeguard individual rights and freedoms.

We will be posting updates on our new web page, Democracy is a verb where you can also find the Final Report of the Jews for Freedom Listening Session.

We can’t wait for you to join us in making democracy a verb.

People around the country are coming together with a simple message: there’s more we can do to end gun violence. Join the movement by signing up to attend an event during Wear Orange Weekend June 5-7.

Protect Minnesota will holding a vigil and community gathering for “Wear Orange”.

When: June 7th, at 7:00PM
Where: Wolf Park in St. Louis Park

Gun violence impacts every kind of community, every age, every neighborhood, every faith tradition. That’s why coming together matters. Join us in coming together next Sunday for an evening of remembrance, reflection, and community connection during Wear Orange Weekend.

There is power in showing up.
There is power in saying their names.
There is power in refusing to accept this as normal.
We will see you there!

We know these are impossibly heavy and uncertain times. May we draw strength from one another and find healing through connection and action. As our tradition teaches, caring for each other is how we endure, and how we move forward together.
