FINAL REPORT: NCJW|MN Jews for Freedom Listening Session

Overview to the Report
This spring, NCJW, Inc. was invited to join with Jews for Freedom, a larger network of Jewish groups working together to protect democracy. The goal is to better understand how our community is currently thinking about and/or taking action on democratic principles, and based on what we learn, to mobilize many more Jews to deepen their engagement. Toward this end, Jews for Freedom launched a listening campaign to bring people together to share their experiences, stories, and aspirations. Given our experiences here in Minnesota, NCJW MN believed this was an ideal organizing strategy and agreed to participate in the campaign.

NCJW|MN identified the following goals for its participation in Jews for Freedom.
1. Hear from a representative number of pro-democracy Jews across the religious and ideological spectrum.
2. Share experiences and stories about how we and our families, friends, neighbors, and communities are directly impacted by the authoritarian policies of 2025-2026.
3. Identify the core values that we share.
4. Identify the types of actions that will mobilize our base and explore the obstacles that we will need to overcome.
5. Strengthen relationships and build a sense of shared agency and purpose.
6. Commit to staying in conversation and working together toward a democratic future.
