Books to Borrow Donations

Thank you for considering a donation to NCJW MN’s Books to Borrow! Your generosity makes it possible for us to continue promoting literacy and strengthening community by providing easy access to quality children’s books.

We are in need of books that are:

  • New or gently used
  • Aimed at ages from birth through high school (with our greatest need being for board books through middle school)
  • Inclusive (sensitive to gender, disability, cultural diversity, etc.)
  • Not Judaism-specific (since most of the children we serve are from African American, East African, Latin American, or Mexican families)
  • Currently-themed (less than 10 years old) with the exception of “timeless” (still popular) titles like Ezra Keats, Dr. Seuss, the Berenstain Bears, Judith Viorst, Crockett Johnson (e.g., Harold and the Purple Crayon), Jeff Kinney (e.g., Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Kate DiCamillo, Eric Carle, Maurice Sendak, Arnold Lobel, etc.

Have Judaism-specific children’s books? Please consider donating them to a synagogue school, synagogue library (e.g., contact Ellen Konstan at the Mt. Zion library [ellen.konstan@gmail.com or 651-698-6881]), Hebrew school (such as Talmud Torah of Minneapolis or St. Paul), the Jewish Community Center, PJ Library at JFCS (contact Geri Goldman at 952-417-2139 or ggoldman@jfcsmpls.org), or PJ Library at the St. Paul Federation (contact Ellen Konstan at 651-695-3195 or ekonstan@stpaulfed.org)!

If you have adult titles or other children’s books that don’t fit these criteria, please consider donating them to your local Little Free Library. Here’s a handy tool for finding one.
