Reparations in St. Paul: An Update and Our Role

5:00 pm — 6:00 pm

Zoom

A Discussion with Jane Prince, St. Paul City Council, 7th Ward and Trahern Crew, co-chair St. Paul Reparations Steering Committee
Food for Thought before Services, Friday, April 23, 5-6 pm
Co-sponsored by NCJW Minnesota and Mount Zion’s Tzedek Committee
The Tzedek Committee has prioritized racial justice for many years and has felt a renewed sense of urgency in this work since the murder of George Floyd last year. We conducted one-to-one conversations with Mount Zion members last summer on racial, immigrant and climate justice and believe that these issues are all connected.
We have just completed three discussions on the nationally recognized book, Caste, by Isabel Wilkerson, attended by more than 50 Mount Zion members. Many attendees expressed an interest in moving this work forward, exploring further actions aimed at addressing long-standing racial inequities. In response, the Tzedek Committee will hold a Food for Thought conversation about the work being done in St. Paul on reparations. The Food for Thought will be led by two community leaders working on the St. Paul Recovery Act related to reparations.
