NCJW Leads National Jewish Organizations in Expressing Deep Concern on Nomination of Paul Ingrassia to Lead the Office of Special Counsel
September 30, 2025
United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
340 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Dear Chairman Paul, Ranking Member Peters, and Members of the Committee:
On behalf of the following 13 national Jewish organizations representing a diverse Jewish community across the United States, we write to express our deep concern about the nomination of Paul Ingrassia to lead the Office of Special Counsel. We urge the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee to examine not only Mr. Ingrassia’s qualifications, but also his support for extremist views and individuals. His background raises serious concerns about his ability to stand up against violent and dangerous extremism and lead this office with the independence and impartiality it requires.
The Office of Special Counsel is an independent, nonpartisan agency that investigates claims of prohibited personnel practices involving federal employees. In this role, Mr. Ingrassia’s job would be to protect those in our federal workforce, and to make sure that individuals and agencies are held responsible if they abuse their power. Mr. Ingrassia’s public statements and associations with people who espouse antisemitic, racist, and misogynistic views, raise serious questions about his ability to carry out these responsibilities with the integrity, impartiality, and commitment required of the office. Moreover, Mr. Ingrassia has expressed disdain for the very federal workforce he would be tasked with protecting.
As Jewish organizations, we are alarmed by Mr. Ingrassia’s promotion of antisemitic, anti-immigrant, and racist ideologies. Through his social media and published writings, he has espoused elements of the “Great Replacement” theory and similar race-based conspiracies which fueled the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in United States history in Pittsburgh and has led to deadly violence targeting Black, Latino, Muslim, and other communities. In a 2024 social media post, he specifically used the words “Great Replacement” when referring to so-called “illegal aliens” entering the United States. This theory, at its core, falsely claims that there is a plot to replace the power and culture of white Americans with non-white immigrants. Disturbingly, in many iterations of this conspiracy, the Jewish community is blamed as the orchestrator of this “replacement.”
Mr. Ingrassia has also defended and associated with figures of deep concern to our organizations, including white nationalist Nick Fuentes. Mr. Ingrassia defended Mr. Fuentes in a 2023 Substack post, and was also seen at a Fuentes event in Detroit in 2024, where Fuentes and his supporters promoted a litany of dangerous antisemitic statements. Equally troubling are Mr. Ingrassia’s ties to Andrew Tate, a self-described misogynist who has spread violent, anti-woman, and antisemitic content and who has been indicted on charges of sex trafficking and rape.
Our organizations are dedicated to protecting the rights, safety, and dignity of the Jewish community — and of every community. The promotion of antisemitic, anti-immigrant, and racist ideologies harms us all. Elevating Mr. Ingrassia sends a dangerous message that these views are not only tolerated, but endorsed and encouraged. Jewish Americans, women, and other targeted communities in the federal workforce cannot feel safe or protected under the authority of Mr. Ingrassia.
We urge the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs to thoroughly examine Mr. Ingrassia’s qualifications and assess whether he can fulfill the responsibilities of this office with integrity and a true commitment to those he is meant to serve. The Jewish community — and all communities — deserves leaders who will safeguard their rights and safety, rather than support ideologies that threaten them.
Sincerely,
