Reflections from NCJW Board President, Laura Monn Ginsburg on Why This is the Right Time to be Journeying to Israel with NCJW

This November, I will travel to Israel for the first time—something I did not expect to be saying two years into my term as NCJW president. Surely, I thought, I would have been there many times by now. But until this moment, it has not been possible for us to bring a large group of leaders together.

As the oldest Jewish women’s organization in the United States—with staff and service actively happening on the ground in Israel—there has never been a more important time for us to be present.

I will be joined on this journey by NCJW CEO Sheila Katz, our past CEO Nancy Kaufman, and past president Dana Gershon. The fact that generations of NCJW leadership are coming together for this trip is a testament to the deep legacy and unwavering commitment of this organization.

“Our legacy of leadership means we show up—not only when it is easy, but when it matters most.”

This is a critical moment for us to stand with our Israeli colleagues, partners, and the communities we serve. While there is risk in traveling to Israel right now, there is also risk—sadly—in simply showing up to our schools, places of worship, and capital cities here in the United States.

I am proud of NCJW, proud of this journey, and proud of the advocates who will be with us. This trip is not just a visit—it is a statement: that NCJW will continue to lead, to stand in solidarity, and to live our values no matter the moment.
